Management changes
Following the acquisition of Universal Marina in 2021, Graham Bristowe has had the privilege of managing the integration of the site and team into the Premier Group, whilst also managing here at Swanwick Marina. We are proud to announce Graham has handed the helm at Universal over permanently to Martin Bowman and will be taking on additional responsibilities in supporting major investment projects across the Premier sites alongside managing the team and operations here.
We are delighted to say we have now welcomed Amy Lewington back following maternity leave for her first child. Upon Amy’s return, we have said goodbye and a big thank you to James Montgomery who has been a brilliant part of the Swanwick management team over the season and returns to Universal as a permanent Duty Manager.
Staff achievements
We continually invest in the skills and experience of our marina team and are delighted to announce two of our trusty Dockmasters, Michael Evans and James Hudson, have recently passed their B1 Forklift certification, making them even more valuable to our fantastic marina team. After a three-day intensive training course, they are now qualified to drive our Mitsubishi Forklift truck. You might see them carrying out day to day tasks with an even bigger smile on their faces, and a wave to passers-by.
Celebrating apprenticeship achievements
We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of four incredible employees who have successfully graduated from the Marina and Boatyard Apprenticeship in collaboration with South Devon College! A huge congratulations to Albi Paris, Ava Cousins, Lewis Jones and Will Kilpatrick.
An extra special shout out to Ava, who was shortlisted as a finalist for British Marine Apprentice of the Year and given the opportunity to meet HRH The Princess Royal during the Southampton Boat Show, celebrating young talent within the marine industry.
James Ketchell sets off from Gosport Marina
Last month, adventurer James Ketchell began his planned record-breaking attempt to solo circumnavigation of the globe, starting at our very own Gosport Marina. James will be tackling a remarkable 30,000 nautical mile journey aboard his Class 40 yacht, "Mindset", of which Premier Marinas are proudly sponsoring.
