Premier Marinas’ mission is to be the finest marina operator in the UK. To ensure we are successful in meeting our goals, we continually invest in our staff and are proud to offer an apprenticeship scheme to provide opportunities to build careers within the marine industry.
Working in partnership with South Devon College, we currently have eight apprentices across our south coast marinas – gaining hands-on experience and training four days a week in the marina and boatyard operations and one day of online virtual teaching with the college to achieve a Level 2 Diploma.
Their training includes assisting with the lifting, movement and cleaning down of boats, assisting with the maintenance of marina facilities, pontoons and machinery, learning and using computer software systems and being educated on safety legislation, customer service, marina maintenance and environmental good practice.
We are also proud to offer an AAT Level 2 Finance Assistant Apprenticeship to Owen Sargent at Head Office, working in partnership with Fareham College. Owen was first introduced to Premier via Gosport Marina where his grandparents kept their boat. Whilst studying a BTEC in Business at Fareham College, Owen was required to complete 1-day of work experience per week which he completed at Gosport Marina for his first year and moving into completing work experience within the finance department at our Head Office in his second year.
Taking a keen interest in the financial element of the marine industry, Owen then applied to complete a full-time Finance Apprenticeship with both Premier and Fareham College, where he is currently learning about the principles of accountancy; collecting, receipting and conducting payments and credit control; and learning the administration and processes within finance and accounts.
Premier’s Learning and Development Manager, Chris Wood will also be undertaking a Level 3 Learning & Development Apprenticeship with Well Training to further enhance a working environment which allows our staff to develop and learn.
